Online - Dutch Embassies in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines together with UNESCO
In line with the WPFC theme of “Journalism without Fear or Favour,” the Dutch Embassies in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines together with UNESCO are co-organizing a regional webinar to highlight the issue of the safety of journalists in the region, from the perspective of media practitioners from print, broadcast, and photo journalism.
This 90 minutes discussion six journalists from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, will speak on the challenges they are facing in their journalistic work – including harassment, threats, and attacks both offline and online. These may be related to their work in reporting from various dangerous situations such as riots, demonstrations, the crackdown during war on drugs, COVID-19, or even pressure from the authorities. The photojournalists and cartoonists will present a selection of their photographs/art as well as sharing their views and perspectives through these visual elements. The event will be liivestreamed on the UNESCO Jakarta Facebook page.
